OEM Acura Lighting
Your Acura has many types of car lighting. Some lights, like your headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights (DRLs), come with it from the factory. All three indicate your position, both on the road and off it. Signal lights ("blinkers") indicate turning and changing lanes, while brake lights indicate slowing and stopping.
Other lighting is actually a function rather than separate. Headlights, for instance, have both a high-beam setting for extreme dark and a low-beam setting for everyday driving. Hazard lights, also known as "flashers," show other drivers there's danger nearby. They can also tell them that you're in distress and need help.
Other lights yet, you can get for an Acura as options. Fog lights, for example, are bright, low-glare bulbs that give you better visibility in bad weather. Puddle lights, for another, illuminate the area below the doors of your car or SUV. They help riders avoid obstacles like rainwater as they get in and out. Specialty lights, however, showcase exterior accessories such as license plate frames.
Most car lighting is of three kinds: LED, halogen, or high-intensity discharge/HID (also known as Xenon). What lighting your Acura needs depends on what model and body style it is, so refer to your owner's manual for more details on what to install. When to change a car light bulb depends on which of these your vehicle has, though. Generally, you should replace a halogen bulb every couple years, an LED bulb if its electronics fail or the light itself burns out, and an HID/a Xenon bulb every few years, if or when it dims.
