OEM Acura Air Filters
As air passes through your Acura, it carries airborne contaminants, like dirt, dust, and allergens. These can accumulate in its air intake and on its fuel injectors and spark plugs. They can even start lining its ducts and vents. Luckily, your vehicle has OEM air filters installed -- one for the engine and one for the cabin. They help keep such pollutants from building up on those engine parts and in its HVAC.
When Should I Replace My Air Filter?
Unfortunately, engine filter and cabin filter alike can choke with muck and debris. They can also degrade from old age. When they do, they'll stop working as well, and other problems will follow. Luckily, there are signs you can look for to tell you it's time to replace them. They include:
- A lit Check Engine light on your dash
- Dirty, congested, or worn-out filters
- A cabin that smells unclean
- An engine that's stressed, making strange noises, or misfiring
- Your fuel economy is getting worse
- Your vehicle's emissions have increased markedly
- Your heater and air conditioner are malfunctioning
To avoid these issues, be sure to change both air filters regularly. Your owner's manual will likely recommend doing so every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. However, double-check its maintenance schedule to be sure. If you're seeing any of these symptoms, though, it's probably time for a change.
